The Sonny & Cher Zone | Television

Sonny & Cher appeared on US television screens in 1965, as semi-regulars on 'Shindig!' and 'Shivaree!', performing covers and early hits such as 'Baby Don't Go', 'Just You' and 'I Got You Babe'. Once the latter turned into a global smash hit, the duo were very much in demand to perform it and their following ditties on TV shows such as 'The Ed Sullivan Show' and 'Top Of The Pops'.

Even when their record sales dried up in the late-1960's, Sonny & Cher remained popular TV personalities, and after acting some in popular US shows 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E' and 'Love, American Style', the talents of Sonny & Cher were fully showcased in their super-successful 1971 variety show 'The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour'.

After their much-publicised and sometimes nasty divorce, Sonny & Cher reunited - professionally - on further variety show 'The Sonny & Cher Show' in 1976. Long after going their separate ways, they once again turned up on the small screen together in 1987 for an award-winning appearance on 'Late Show With David Letterman', singing none-other-than 'I Got You Babe'. Full circle, indeed.
