Fan Questions Answered! Cher Sick Of Being Asked "Do You Believe In Life After Love?"

Superstar Cher stopped by social networking site Reddit to answer a wide range of questions from her legions of fans:

Q: What's your favorite Bette Davis movie? Are you a fan of hers?

A: I'd have to turn in my gay icon card if I wasn't a huge fan of hers. I just watched the night before last 'Now, Voyager'. I can't remember the name of it but I like the one when her husband was an anti-fascist, and they came to America. She doesn't have a huge part in it, and as I understand it, she did it as a favor to the actor who starred in the film with her because he had done the part on Broadway - because no one knew him, the only way he could star in it was if she did the film. But I loved it. I love the shooting scene in 'The Letter'.

Cher's 'Closer To The Truth' and 'Woman's World' Debut On Australian Music Charts

Cher
Cher's new music releases 'Closer To The Truth' and 'Woman's World' have debuted on Australia's music charts.

Following its early release down under, Cher's 25th solo studio album 'Closer To The Truth' has debuted at #17 on Australia's ARIA Albums Chart.

The perennially-popular singer's single 'Woman's World' has also made its debut on the ARIA Singles Chart at #77.

Cher first scored hits in Australia in 1965 as one-half of Sonny & Cher with single 'I Got You Babe' and it's identically-titled parent album (titled 'Look At Us' elsewhere), which both charted at #3. The new chart entries expand Cher's span of hit singles and albums in Australia to over 48 years.

Cher Answers Fans Questions In 'iTunes Music' Live Twitter Chat

Cher'iTunes Music' held a live Twitter chat with musician Cher, which consisted of Cher answering questions from fans - largely about her new album 'Closer To The Truth' - who'd used hashtag #AskCher:

Q: The sequencing of the album is unusual. Can you explain what your intent was?
A: I don't like albums where there is a slow song next to a fast one. What I was trying to do was create a mood by keeping all the fast songs together, and gently going down to the sadder, slower songs. I started to slow down and change the feeling with 'I Walk Alone' and they all got slower from 'I Walk Alone' through 'Lie To Me'.

Q: What got you back in the recording studio?
A: One of my managers beat me into the studio.

PHOTOS! Cher Partying At New York Club

CherCher's single 'Woman's World' became somewhat real yesterday - hopefully without any of the hurt - as the newly-single songstress celebrated on a New York  club floor.

Already dressed to kill following her guest appearance on 'Late Show With David Letterman', Cher took to club Tao, where she mingled with fellow party-goers.

The outlandish 'Goddess of Pop' was out celebrating the release of her new album 'Closer To The Truth' - her first in 12 years.

She later tweeted, with the last photo below, "Me Clubbing in the Big Apple! Got up at 4:30 AM, finished 10PM! On way home! I must start acting my age!"

Cher: 25 Things You Don't Know About Me

Cher dished out 25 intriguing facts about herself - that the general public will not know - to 'Us Weekly' (although die-hards will know quite a few):

1. Stephen Hawking invited me to lunch one day and we got into a heated discussion with his students about history vs. math. Stephen said, "Cher, when time travel is perfected, history will be obsolete."

2.Meryl Streep and I saved a girl from a large mugger in New York City

3. The day I move out of my home in Holmby Hills, I found a room I never knew existed.

'Closer To The Truth' Reviews Plus Chart Prediction

'Closer To The Truth' by CherOn Tuesday, Cher unleashed her new album 'Closer To The Truth' to the North American public. An array of publications have heralded the album as one of her best - a real feat considering that she already has 24 solo albums in her back-catalogue:

One of Cher’s most engaging albums, a strong collection of pop tunes the world would be wise to pick up. 4/5 - Idolator

Closer To The Truth is anything but a meek return to the spotlight for one of pop's most enduring and resilient emissaries. * * * * * - sosogay

Cher: I Just Broke Up With Someone!

Cher
Tabloid-favorite Cher usually keeps her love-life private these days. However, the singer/actress announced to UK publication 'Notebook' that she just came out of a relationship:

"I just broke up with someone but I need a little bit of a break. I don't believe in going from one [relationship] to another - I have girlfriends that won't leave someone they're with until they have someone new to move on to and you just can't do that."

Trend-setting superstar Cher appeared on NBC's 'The Today Show' this morning to perform her latest singles 'Woman's World' and 'I Hope You Find It'. However, just before she made her big entrance - on an Officer's motorcycle - the 67-year-old singer was forced to make a quick adjustment to the pair of pants/trousers that she was wearing:

VIDEO: Cher on 'CBS News Sunday Morning'

Cher
Cher - inside the newly-renovated TCL Chinese Theatre in LA - was interviewed by Anthony Mason for 'CBS News Sunday Morning', which aired this morning.

Mason: You've said that you're not a serious actor and you're not a serious singer.

Cher: I did?

Mason: Yeah. Please tell me you don't believe that?

Cher: I must have been high. I take my work seriously. I don't know, it must have been some sort of flippant, b------- thing that I said.

Drugs, Swearing and More! - Cher Talks To 'The Guardian' About An Array of Subjects

CherCher spoke to British publication 'The Guardian' about an array of subjects including drugs, swearing and "odd" Phil Spector.

I process songs through my feelings. Music doesn't really go through my brain. It just goes… somewhere else. But there have been a couple songs that I had to be persuaded to do, and they turned out to be great hits. So I obviously don't know everything [about songwriting] all the time.

I learned all my swear words from my [British] producer Mark Taylor. "W*nkers!" "T*ssers!" He and [her late ex-husband and musical partner] Sonny [Bono] are my favourite producers I've ever worked with.

New Interview! Cher Tells 'Sydney Morning Herald': I Don't Have The Slightest Idea How Many Records I've Made

Cher
Cher spoke to Michael Idato of Australia's 'Sydney Morning Herald' about her music career and much more:

At the age of 67, and as she gears up to launch her 26th solo studio album, Cher - mother, daughter, sister, singer and activist - is a woman who seems to have a lot on her mind. The first track on her new album, Closer to the Truth, is titled Woman's World. It is, unapologetically, a feminist anthem.

Yet, in 2013, with the disparity between genders still evident around the world and abortion, in politically conservative corners of the world, including the US, still prominent on the political agenda, Cher may be singing it's a woman's world, but it sometimes feels like it's anything but.

Cher Interviewed By... Jake Shears! (For 'V Magazine')

Cher
Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears collaborated with Cher on her new album 'Closer To The Truth' - more precisely, on track 'Take It Like A Man'. More recently - just before Cher completed the album - 'V Magazine' asked him to interview the music legend, via phonecall, for their magazine. And here it is...

JAKE: Let’s talk about the new record, which I’ve gotten to hear a lot of and absolutely love. You sound amazing. What were the biggest challenges of making it?

CHER: Getting into the studio. I haven’t made a record in 11 years. But I think my record company was just about to blow me off, ’cause you know, I would have. They just said do it or don’t. So the first thing we did was “Woman’s World” and they seemed to like that. Then I pretty much over-recorded. I’m really enjoying this, but I have to say that it’s a little bit different. I’m singing higher notes and I’m singing better, which is kind of freaky, because I should be having to bring down my keys, but these are the highest songs I’ve sung.

Cher "Ashamed" Of Miley Remarks

CherCher revealed on Twitter that she's "ashamed" of opening her "big opinionated mouth" about Miley Cyrus' VMA performance.

Superstar Cher - known for her huge success in music, film and television - shared a few thoughts on Miley Cyrus's infamous VMA performance with a handful of publications. However, the 'Woman's World' singer is perhaps wishing that she could turn back time as the negative comments she made have left her feeling ashamed.

Just moments ago, she posted a series of tweets on the subject; "RE: Miley C... I think what I think but having said that... I'm a little ashamed (which is total bulls**t, how can you be a little ashamed) that I didn't keep my big opinionated mouth shut. What the f**k is my problem! I'm too old to fall prey to 'Tell us, oh wise one, what did you think of Miley Cyrus?'"

New Interview! Cher Chats About Her Life & Career With 'USA Today'

Cher'USA Today' sat down with Cher at her Malibu home for a chat about her life and career:

In June, Cher took the spotlight on the finale of The Voice to unleash dance anthem Woman's World, the debut single from Closer to the Truth, her first album since 2002. The stage warhorse with 50 years of performing behind her concedes that she felt terrified.

"Everyone judges you on what you just did," she says. "Right before I walked out there, I told my mom, 'I'm so sweating it. I'm a has-been. My career is nothing.' It's my first time out of the box in 12 years, in front of 20 million people. If it had been horrible, they would have tarred and feathered my whole life with that brush. My career would have ended on such a sad note."

Cher On Miley's VMA Performance: I Didn't Like It

In interviews with 'USA Today', 'Extra' and 'E!', Cher discussed Miley Cyrus' VMA performance.

Cher was asked by 'USA Today' for her opinions on Miley Cyrus' much-discussed performance at the VMAs this year, and the famously-outspoken songstress didn't hold back; "So bad", she described it. "I'm not old-fashioned... If she had come out naked, and if she'd just rocked the house, I would have said, 'You Go, girl'. It just wasn't done well. She can't dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn't great, one cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don't stick out your tongue if it's coated."

Cher To Guest On 'Letterman' on 24 September!

Cher
Cher will be a guest on 'Late Show With David Letterman' on 24 September.

Without a doubt, Cher is one of the most-memorable 'Late Show With David Letterman' guests in its 30-year history (of course, it has had a name-change and a channel-change in that period).

She made the studio audience gasp when she called the host an "a**hole" - whilst also declaring that she was only on the show to pay off a hefty hotel bill. And of course, she made the audience cry when she and Sonny reunited on the show to sing their classic 'I Got You Babe' - a moment which won a TV Land Award!

New Interview! Cher: I Thought I'd Be Dead Right Now!

Cher at a recent charity event
Cher spoke to Canadian publication 'Canoe' about her new album:

It's interesting that you, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry all have new CDs being released within weeks of each other, because you all have a similar sense of theatricality and style. Have either of them ever come forward and personally given you props?

I think Gaga has, but I don't know enough about Katy to know if she has, but look - I set a place for Madonna, Madonna set a place for them. We try to move the bar to have more freedom of expression. That's what it is, being able to express yourself in any way you want to, in any look you want to, because, when I was growing up, when Sonny and I first started, people hated us for the way we looked. We got into lots of trouble. We got thrown out of restaurants and we got beaten up. It was hard to be who you wanted to be and look too different. And we looked really different! I mean, the Beatles still had their little haircuts and their suits but nobody looked like us. I thought we looked fabulous!

"im not cher im aaron" - Was Cher's Twitter Account Hacked?

Cher
Cher's Twitter account appeared to be hacked when a strange trio of tweets were made on it.

Cher's 1.7 million followers are used to being left confused by the dyslexic Dark Lady's tweets every now-and-then. However, those that were online last night are still scratching their heads after witnessing a trio of strange tweets from Cher's Twitter account.

It seemed that the 'Half Breed' singer was about to begin a Twitter session when a tweet consisting of just a question mark was made. As always - a rush of Cher fans tweeted her back. However, before long, another tweet was made on Cher's account: "im not cher im aaron".

New Interview! Cher On Absense From Music: I Forgot To Make An Album

'Gay & Night' magazine cover
Cher spoke to Netherlands publication 'Gay & Night' about her new album, new tour and more:

The obvious question first: Why has it taken you 12 long years to follow up on the last album?

This is a silly answer, but it's the truth: I just forgot. If you knew me, it would make perfect sense, too. I was signed to Warner UK and Rob Dickens was the president. He and I were very close. When my contract ran out there, I just didn't think about Warner America. You know, it didn't occur to me that they would want to make a record. If it hadn't been for my own manager, I don't think I would have done it. I thought it was maybe too late and the farewell album was it.

New Interview! Cher Turned Down Winter Olympics Offer In Russia Due To "Gay Hate"

CherCher covered a wide range of subjects in an interview with Canadian news publication Maclean's:

Her voice—that famous contralto—has kept Cher on the Billboard charts, on TV and in films for more than five decades. She is one of only 16 people on the planet to be part of the EGO club—a rarefied circle of performers who have won an Emmy, a Grammy and an Oscar. And a Tony win may be in the cards in the future as she plans to stage a Broadway musical about her life. Her 26th album, Closer to the Truth, due out Sept. 24, comes more than a decade after her last full-length disc. Already, her latest single, Woman’s World, has made it to the Billboard dance club songs chart—her eighth No. 1 hit.

Cher On 'Daybreak': I'm Really Shy

Cher was interviewed on UK morning show 'Daybreak'.

The 'Just Like Jesse James' singer was back on the UK small screen this morning - following yesterday's BBC1 'Breakfast' appearance - for an interview with ITV's 'Daybreak'.

'Daybreak' interviewer Ross King asked Cher to reveal something about herself that the general public doesn't know; Cher responded, "The only thing I think people - I don't know if they know it or not - is that I'm really shy. Now, I was so shy as a child that I couldn't dial information for my mother, I could not bring myself to talk to the operator and ask, you know, 'Do you have so-and-so?'. Also, I was dyslexic, so my whole childhood in school was a nightmare."

Cher On New Album: I Would Have Called It 'Dressed To Kill'

CherCher's new album 'Closer To The Truth' was in the making for years but when it came to its title, she didn't have long enough to give it proper thought.

The Grammy, Oscar and Emmy Award-winning superstar has released 24 solo studio albums so far during her lengthy career. Around half of those albums have been named after a song title on the album (like 'Believe' and 'Half-Breed') but with Cher's last album, 2001's 'Living Proof', the name came from a lyric on the album.

UK Special! News Round-Up: 'Believe' Back On UK Charts; UK TV Appearance Approaching; Plus Stars Reveal Their Favorite Cher Songs!

Cher
Most of today's news comes courtesy of the United Kingdom!...

Cher's 1998 monster hit 'Believe' has made a return to the UK music charts, coming in at number 40 on the country's official dance chart! Almost fifteen years after its release, the song is still the best-selling single of all-time by a female solo artist in the United Kingdom - selling close to 1.8 million copies there. 'Believe' also spent three weeks on the dance chart - officially titled Dance Chart Top 40 - in September of last year when UK 'X Factor' contestant Ella Henderson did a much-discussed ballad rendition of the song on the show.
